I am going to show you how to make this part to you stick into a coke bottle. These would sell for $1.00 or two. Ovi-traps are constructed with a hole for mosquitos to fly in and out. As we know a mosquito will lay eggs in virtually any container. Below is a container, but it is one way. upto 98% can not escape.. Virtally eliminating the infected mosquitos. I made this with black coated aluminum screen material. I cut the hole in the container with scissors, (to cut I smashed the bottle to have a fold as it is easy to cut a half circle. Then with a stick pressed it back in shape. Materials needed were one 3 liter bottle, hot glue, a stick, scissors, a pvc tube or some rod roughly 1.25 inches in dia. and the aluminum screen material.
You should place several of these in the house one in the bedrooms, one near the front door. And several around the outside of the house specially near doors window areas and the outside peripheral areas near your neighbors properties. Also you must eliminate any breeding sites like birdbaths and barrels, flower pots that hold water, everything. And put one of these on any septic vent, make a T unit with entry on both sides. Use aluminum wire.
And finally these are more effective if you eliminate major breeding sources in compitition with these. Do not put these taps near toilets, pools, pet water dishes. Your property must be cleaned out of any places that allow them to collect water. I have a pool but clorinated and I was able to catch them 20, 50 and 100 feet away from it. Use these to cover house vents and septic systems. They must have the T and be horizontal.
In the last month I have been testing with 5 gallon water jugs even though I have a low count of mosquitos in the area. I am having even better results with 5 gallon water bottles with three screens around the top and lots of water. I am also now testing small containers and putting in two or three screens. But my mosquito activity is very low so may not be a great time to test these new containers.

here is the new easy to make video 2/19/2017 do the 2 winds of the screen material as shown, you can use hotglue vs wire and also can use silicone.
DIY video below here...
I have posted some pictures on how I have made my traps if these are not clear enough for you, and the video is not just email me and tell me what you need and will try to do it...your questions will help others too. I think this is enough so you with a coke bottle and screen material can do the same. I used hotglue. patent is pending.
Here is the example of the one I made, I have to do some verification testing on it. But I see no harm in people testing themselves. 10/16/2016 two different bottles have positive results.
these are a bit tricky to figure out how to make them. I made the above video to make it a bit easier to figure out. But you can see I wound the alumininum screen up 2 times around the tube and used wire to lock it into place, I prefer hot glueing a seam.
Then with the part on the inside I made a ramp at the exit that is only 3mm wide to get through. This makes it almost impossible for the mosquito to backtrack out once they enter to lay eggs. Effective to up to 98% in my testing.
put in 4 inches of water not clorinated and not distilled. When you hav larvae filter the water through a paper towel, coffee filter, shirt. and reuse the water.
This one you can see I sealed it to the bottle with hot glue, you can also use tape or silicone.

looking at the back of the bottle, as I mentioned a bit hard to figure out what I did here, but the exit is hardly visable here. the mossy will go into the wrong area if she tries back here.
from the front of the hole you can see I bent the very back 1/2 extra turn of the screen to form a almost seal leaving about a 3 mm gap.
I had cut the front part of the screen so I could bend it as a flap to have a decent seal to the bottle.
This is a 3 liter bottle. here is a side view you can see i wound the screen material into a smaller roll. I used a 3/4 inch tube and hotglues a line when I have about 2 turns done. This is important.
Here is the backside it is about 1/2 inch away from the back of the bottle.
This is a bit hard to figure out but it is very important it allows the mosquito to fly into the bottle then crawl and then fly to the water to lay the eggs. As you see from the front it is simple to see how the mosquito follows a straight path.
But here on the backside if they fly up to it to craw around the opening is not obvious from a flight plan large landing area percentage.
I will take pictues of one without the bottle later it should be clearer than.
so here is the general idea... and below I show pictures of it executed. I used hot glue for all seams and used a 3/4 inch pipe to form my screen tube.
The ramp is important to tricking the mosquito after she lays eggs. she will try to enter from the lower part as it is a good landing surface and will walk towards the opening but it is a dead end. This is critical.
This is 98% effective at this point 4 out of 200 were able to figure it out and escape.
Now I have not ttested this side entry as all mine have been top entry then a 90 degree turn. But this should work and is the easiest to make for people all over the world is why I am heading this direction.
I will do some testing soom. And what harm does it do for you to make this and test if it works yee ha. If it doesn't no damage. It does take time in some locations.
Use rain water is ideal and if you let it get algie is also good.
I put the bottle in a black garbage can. you should have one in each bedroom, one by your main door and several outside your home and perimiter. They cost about 10 cents in material.
Please send me any results on the contact page
I believe you can click to enlarge the pictures.
when trying to escape the trap when mosquito tries to get out they either walk on the side of the screen outside or they enter the area below the 3mm gap and can not figure out how to get out. works at 98%.
this picture is out of proportion the gap is only 3mm.
Here is the backside it is about 1/2 inch away from the back of the bottle.

Here is a bottle that obviously at least one mosquito entered and layed eggs. So we consider this a sucess. What you would do is pour this water out into a another container to reuse. You would filter it through any kind of cloth to remove all larvae and eggs.
We have about 50 or more larae in the bottle and about 6-10 mosquitos that could not eascape. So I have added a collection bottle to the side and now have the larger 3 liter bottle in a black bag to force the mosquitos to try to escape into the light area of the small bottle. This is just me doing a verification test.
here is a screen rendering with hotglue on it.
below is a bottle I i hotglued the trap into. you could also use silicone.
i
Do-It-yourself one way mosquito trap...
Cost is about 5-10 cents.
Put them in each bedroom, and near main entrance. Put several around the house near bushes.
Use rain water, no salty or clorinated water, best to let the water sit in the coke bottle in the sun till you have some algae.
This is patent pending and when you catch some please use the contact form and give me the results so I can find funding to put this into mass production. and you can also donate on the donate page even buy some of my other inventions to support this cause too.
Now I have not tested the side entrace yet but this is the easiest one I can make for others to duplicate for a do it yourself. I have seen other traps that use fans use side entrances so this should do fine. You have nothing to lose and everything to gain. I will be tsing these now myself.
Also you must clean up any competing water locations. You must remove any sitting water containers in the area.
This includes cover septic tank vents and house stink tubes/house roof vents with screen.
Please be patient these can take time to be effective even a few weeks or months. And these do not catch mosquitos in the biting stage, just the egg laying stage. There was an experiment in Australia of a part of a town and similar in concept ovi traps shut down an infected dengue area in a month. Ours will be as good if not better because we do not allow the disease passing mosquito to just fly away up to 98 % of the time. The old school way allows all to fly away and die later because of poison, but it could bite another person before it dies, they do not know. And those traps if neglected the poison degrades and they become breeding locations making the situation worse. Plus, the major problem with using insecticides is mosquitos then mutate to be insecticide resistant, making them super bugs.
